Louise Cunningham Howard

Louise Cunningham Howard was passionate about her health during her lifetime, demonstrated through her commitment to excellent nutrition and energetic exercise. Ms. Howard died on May 23, 2005 at the age of 85 after living an active, independent and spirited life. As an extension of her dedication, Ms. Howard decided to donate her body to the Maryland State Anatomy Board to provide a legacy for the improved health of future generations. Ms. Howard’s four daughters—Bonita L. Yingling, Suzan D. Geppi, Patricia Y. Shipley, and Karen Y. Shultz—turned to the Community Foundation to establish The Louise Cunningham Howard Memorial Fund in their mother’s memory. The fund allows the sisters to recommend disbursements for their favorite charitable causes, pending approval from the Community Foundation’s Board of Trustees. To honor Ms. Howard’s interest in wellness, preference will be given to awarding scholarships and grants to promote health related education and research.
