Lions Club of Frederick/Frederick County Health Care Coalition Receives Community Foundation Grant Supporting Vision Care

Athletic Scholarships Presented from Community Foundation Dustin and Courtney Muse Fund

Muse Athletic scholarships 2014 8Frederick, MD – April 4, 2014: Eight youth received athletic scholarships totaling $3,100 from The Dustin and Courtney Muse Memorial Fund, a component fund of The Community Foundation of Frederick County. Worman’s Mill Garden Club Supports Community Foundation Fund

MDMasterFarmersFrederick, MD – March 17, 2014: The Worman’s Mill Garden Club made a $3,000 contribution to The Maryland Master Farmers Scholarship Fund, a component fund of The Community Foundation of Frederick County. Averaging 50 members, the Wormans’ Mill Garden Club provides educational programs about horticulture and agriculture to the Worman’s Mill community. Part of their mission is to support Frederick County students continuing their education in the fields of horticulture and/or agriculture. The partnership between the club and the fund is fitting as the fund provides scholarships to students pursuing a career in agriculture. This is the third donation from the club. Community Foundation Extends Scholarship Deadline; February 22

Frederick, MD –February 14, 2014: Applicants have until 11:59 p.m. EST on Saturday, Feb. 22, 2014 to submit their Community Foundation scholarship application. Due to the inclement weather the week of the original deadline, applicants could not collect all materials necessary to complete the application.

Linda M. Snyder Memorial Fund Established at Community Foundation

Linda M. SnyderFREDERICK, MD – February 7, 2014: The Linda M. Snyder Memorial Fund has been established with The Community Foundation of Frederick County, becoming one of more than 640 component funds under management. The fund, established by Tom Snyder and Lindsay Stein, Mrs. Snyder’s husband and daughter, will provide grants to nonprofits and/or post-secondary scholarships to students with financial need. Preference for scholarships will be given to special education or elementary education majors.

Smith Memorial Fund have been provided to two nonprofit organizations that assist injured military service members. The fund is one of more than 640 component funds of The Community Foundation of Frederick County. The Semper Fi Fund received a $10,000 grant, and Operation Second Chance received a $9,000 grant.

Secret Santa Fund Helps Elderly Woman Regain Independence

FREDERICK, MD – February 6, 2014:An elderly woman who is a Frederick County Department of Social Services client became confined to her second-story home when her power scooter equipped with special medical equipment became nonoperational. Now, thanks to a grant from The Secret Santa Fund, one of more than 640 component funds of The Community Foundation of Frederick County, the scooter will be repaired and the client will have her mobility and independence returned.
