Brady West was born to Thurmont’s Jaime Sweeney and Johnny West on Nov. 9, 2006. Sadly, he passed away on March 23, 2007, but the memory of his easy-going nature, beautiful blue eyes, and infectious giggle still remains with everyone who met him.
After his death, Jaime Sweeney and Johnny West wanted to keep the joyful spirit of Brady’s memory alive while helping others at the same time. In doing so, they established The Brady West Memorial Scholarship Fund at the Community Foundation. The Fund will award scholarships to graduates of Catoctin High School pursuing post-secondary education at a college or trade school of their choice.
Contributions to The Brady West Memorial Scholarship Fund may be made payable to The Community Foundation of Frederick County, 312 East Church Street, Frederick, MD 21701, with the Fund’s name inserted in the check’s memo line. Memorial scholarship funds are one of the many ways The Community Foundation of Frederick County transforms the unique charitable dreams of individuals, families and organizations into the reality of charitable funds supporting a range of worthy causes. Over one-fourth of the funds held by the Community Foundation honor the memories of deceased loved ones by continuing to touch lives in meaningful ways in their names. To date, the Community Foundation has provided more than $26 million in grants and scholarships.
