The Karl S. Manwiller Memorial Scholarship Fund
FREDERICK, MD: July 27, 2011: The first scholarship from The Karl S. Manwiller Memorial Scholarship Fund has been awarded to Christopher Ketterman. The fund is one of more than 600 component funds of The Community Foundation of Frederick County.
In 2010, Evelyn M. Manwiller created the fund with the Community Foundation in remembrance of her husband, Karl S. Manwiller. Mr. Manwiller was a teacher with a passion for education and this fund, established in his honor, will support the work he cherished. It will also support graduating high school students who need financial assistance.
Christopher Ketterman, a 2011 Thomas Johnson High School graduate, plans to attend Frederick Community College and pursue a degree in psychology. “This scholarship means so much to me,” said Christopher. “It will be a tremendous help with furthering my education.”
Since 1986, The Community Foundation of Frederick County has provided more than $26 million in scholarships to area students who might otherwise not be able to attend college or trade school and grants to area nonprofits serving the community. This tremendous accomplishment is a direct result of generous donors who touch the future with each donation, leaving a positive impact of lasting change for the Frederick County community.
