The 3rd Annual Kathy J. Meagher Memorial Scholarship Golf Tournament Will Benefit Community Foundation Fund

Frederick, MD – August 12, 2011: The 3^rd Annual Kathy J. Meagher Memorial Scholarship Golf Tournament will be held September 12, 2011, at Montgomery Country Club in Laytonsville, MD. Proceeds from the tournament benefit The Kathy J. Meagher Memorial Scholarship Fund, one of more than 600 component funds of The Community Foundation of Frederick County.

The tournament will begin at 1 p.m. with a shotgun start. The $125 per person registration fee includes lunch, greens fees, cart, range balls, dinner and beverages. Contests, silent auction, door prizes and tournament prizes will be available. Sponsorships are also available ranging from $600 to $2,500. Kathy Meagher was a well-loved educator at the Maryland School for the Deaf. She was an English teacher in the High School department for nearly 20 years, and also served as supervising teacher for the Middle and High School.  She accepted the Principal position for the Frederick Campus in the fall of 2003 and served there until her retirement in 2005. Kathy lost her long and courageous battle with cancer in 2009. Kathy’s husband, Rick, and their children Kathryn, Emily, and Matthew, established the fund to honor her memory, her dedication to education, and to provide scholarships to graduates of Frederick County Public Schools whose lives have been impacted by cancer.
