To help provide sports opportunities for youth through age 21, Tony Checchia and Jay Jeffrey, owners of Frederick Indoor Sports Center (FISC), have established The FISC Foundation Fund with The Community Foundation of Frederick County.

The fund will provide opportunities for Frederick County youth to participate in athletic activities such as sports camps, private training or sports leagues. The funding will be available for use at FISC, as well as other facilities, camps, and leagues.

“Part of our business philosophy at FISC is to be involved in the community,” said Mr. Checchia and Mr. Jeffrey. “Establishing this fund with the Community Foundation is a way to give back, and we hope to begin providing assistance for summer athletic camps as early as 2012. We are very excited about the short-term and the long-term impact the fund will create.”

A fundraising event will be held on November 5, 2011, and a portion of the proceeds will benefit The FISC Foundation Fund. The Mud Dog Run, a high-intensity obstacle course that encompasses 5 kilometers, will be held at Crumland Farms in Frederick. More information can be found at www.muddogrun.com.
