First Grant from Hoffman, Main, and Berry Memorial Fund Supports Heartly House
FREDERICK, MD – November 4, 2011: The first grant from The Pearl Hoffman, Robert William Main and William S. Berry, Sr. Memorial Fund was recently presented to Heartly House, Inc. The fund is one of more than 615 component Funds of The Community Foundation of Frederick County.
The fund was created to support the mission of Heartly House. The organization serves Frederick County residents who have been impacted by domestic violence, sexual assault, and child abuse by providing a 24-hour hotline, counseling services, legal services, and an emergency shelter.
“The cycle of domestic violence is not easy to break,” said Beth Main, Fund Representative. “The grant will help Heartly House provide education about domestic violence for children, youth, and adults, and will also support their counseling services.”
“Heartly House is very grateful for this grant,” said Jill Paleos, Grants Manager. “The organization is also very appreciative to Beth Main for her support and her tireless efforts as a volunteer, and the Community Foundation for providing a conduit for charitable contributions so that citizens in Frederick County may continue the spirit of giving.”
Memorial funds are one of the many ways The Community Foundation of Frederick County transforms the unique charitable dreams of individuals, families and organizations into the reality of charitable funds supporting a range of worthy causes. Over one-fourth of the funds held by the Community Foundation honor the memories of deceased loved ones by continuing to touch lives in meaningful ways.
