Frederick Giving Project Fund Provides Grant to Frederick Arts Council

FREDERICK, MD – December 7, 2011: The second grant from The Frederick Giving Project Fund was recently presented to Frederick Arts Council. The fund is one of more than 615 component funds of The Community Foundation of Frederick County.

The grant presentation was made during the Frederick Giving Project’s year-end celebration at Café Nola. Shuan Butcher, Executive Director for Frederick Arts Council, accepted the grant. “We are delighted to receive this grant from The Frederick Giving Project Fund,” said Mr. Butcher. “We have some exciting plans for the coming year and we are thankful for the support the grant will provide.” The Frederick Arts Council serves as an umbrella organization for arts in Frederick County. In addition to hosting events such as Arts in the Park and Frederick Fashion Week, the organization also gives grants to other local arts organizations and manages the Cultural Arts Center.

The Frederick Giving Project, established in 2009, is an organization that combines the monetary contributions with the talent of its 70+ members to support an emerging nonprofit. In addition to the grant, Frederick Giving Project members will assist Frederick Arts Council in making repairs to the Cultural Arts Center and provide support for major events such as Frederick Festival of the Arts.

Recently recognized by the Rotary Club of Carroll Creek with the Paul Harris Award for Community Service, the Frederick Giving Project was organized to make philanthropy accessible to anyone who is interested in giving their time, skills and money to make Frederick County a better place.
