Community Foundation Awards More Than $77,000 to Area Nonprofits

FREDERICK, MD – December 19, 2011: During its recent discretionary grantsmaking cycle, The Community Foundation of Frederick County provided $77,349 to 31 area nonprofit organizations dedicated to improving lives and enhancing Frederick County. These grants, along with the Community Foundation’s FY12 Strategic Grants that were based upon the Frederick County Human Needs Assessment Study, combine to total more than $262,000 invested back into the community.

The Community Foundation is a leading source of grant funding in Frederick County. Grants supporting the arts, the environment, legal aid, historic preservation, agriculture, elder care, education, animal welfare, scholarships and other civic causes are provided annually to a wide range of nonprofits who apply through the online universal grant application process.

“Many generous people have created funds or contributed to existing funds that make these grants possible,” said Elizabeth Y.
