Community Foundation Universal Scholarship Application Available January 15; Application Training Sessions Will Be Held

Frederick, MD – December 30, 2011: The Community Foundation of Frederick County is pleased to announce that scholarship applications are available for the 2012-2013 academic year beginning Sunday, January 15, 2012.  By completing one Universal Scholarship Application, students will be considered for more than 200 available scholarships.

Completed Universal Scholarship Applications must be submitted online no later than 11:59 p.m. EST on Wednesday, February 15, 2012.  Only electronic applications submitted with all necessary attachments will be considered.  Paper applications will not be accepted.

Click here to access the Universal Scholarship Application.  Those intending to apply are encouraged to read the information posted on the scholarship page prior to January 15, and start preparing the required materials.

Students about to complete their senior year of high school, students already enrolled in a trade school, college or university, and non-traditional students over the age of 21 are eligible to apply.  Scholarship criteria are established by the scholarship funds’ founding donors.  Some scholarships do not consider financial need.  All students are encouraged to apply.

So that students and families can learn more about the online scholarship application process, the Community Foundation will hold two free, one-hour programs titled “How to Apply for Community Foundation Scholarships.” Each program will have the same content so attendance at only one session is necessary.

The first program will be held on Wednesday, January 18, 2012 from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. and the second program will be held on Thursday, February 2, 2012 from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.  Both programs will be held at the Community Room of the C. Burr Artz Library, 110 East Patrick Street in downtown Frederick.  Seating is limited and pre-registration for these programs must be made by calling the Community Foundation at 301.695.7660 or by emailing This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
