Glen O’GilvieFREDERICK, MD – January 3, 2012: Registration for the 2012 Nonprofit Summit has opened earlier than in previous years due to high interest in the annual event. The all-day conference for nonprofit staff, volunteers, and board members involved in nonprofit management, fundraising, governance, board development, marketing and strategic visioning will be held on March 20, 2012, at Frederick Community College Conference Center. Summit details and the online registration form can be accessed at www.aushermanfamilyfoundation.org/summit.

The 2012 conference theme, “Develop Your Leadership Roadmap to Success,” will feature Glen O’Gilvie, former President and CEO of Earth Conservation Corps. Mr. O’Gilvie’s keynote presentation, “Survival of the Smartest,” will engage conference attendees with strategies for the survival and growth of nonprofit organizations in a challenged economy, including ways to find new money while leveraging existing funding and reducing expenses.

During his four years at Earth Conservation Corps, Mr. O’Gilvie forged partnerships with nonprofits, public officials, foundations and corporations throughout the region to advance the organization’s work. He also developed structured environmental workforce development, leadership and service programs for disconnected youth in Washington, D.C. and built staff, board and organizational capacity with a focus on long-term sustainability.  Mr. O’Gilvie has also served as a program officer for the Community Foundation for the National Capital Region, and as the national coordinator for the Robert F. Kennedy Memorial’s RFK Fellows program.

The Summit offers three session tracks totaling 15 sessions for the aspiring leader, the new leader and the seasoned leader. Breakout sessions will include “Getting on the Board Bus,” “Leader Agility: Strategies for Development,” “Coaching vs. Supervising,” and “Nothing Wrong with Leadership.” Registration fees are $60 per person for board members, volunteers, and staff; staff attending with a board member will receive the reduced rate of $50. All fees include lunch. For those without computer access, please contact The Community Foundation of Frederick County at 301-695-7660 for registration materials.
