2012 Nonprofit Summit Features Leadership Experts

Nonprofit staff and board members participate in the 2011 Nonprofit Summit, held in March 2011.FREDERICK, MD – February 7, 2012: The 2012 Nonprofit Summit, “Develop Your Leadership Roadmap to Success,” includes 15 presentations from 10 experts who will guide attendees through a variety of leadership development topics.  The Summit will be held on March 20, 2012, at Frederick Community College Conference Center. Session topics include “Leading Change,” presented by David Grau, Principal Consultant, DG Consulting. Mr. Grau will share what organizations do to succeed, five reasons why initiatives fail, how to ensure success, and more. “Sustainability Planning,” presented by Don Tebbe, Executive Vice-President, TransitionGuides, will focus on the four core areas of long-term success, and how to create success using business and organizational fundamentals. Lisa Burford, President of LCB Consulting, will present “Board Basics,” and will explore topics related to recruitment and operation of a board of directors.

The keynote session will feature Glen O’Gilvie, Chief Executive Officer of the Center for Nonprofit Advancement, located in Washington, D.C. Mr. O’Gilvie’s presentation, “Survival of the Smartest,” will engage conference attendees with strategies for the survival and growth of nonprofit organizations in a challenged economy, including ways to find new money while leveraging existing funding and reducing expenses.

 “The Nonprofit Summit offers first-class, affordable learning opportunities right in our own backyard,” said Joyce Heptner, Executive Director of Ausherman Family Foundation. “The day will be full of quality presentations offering information that can be immediately applied in the workplace.  The planning partners worked to ensure that a day spent at the Summit would provide all attendees with a roadmap that will guide them toward success.”

Other sessions offer leadership topics organized for the aspiring leader, the new leader, and the seasoned leader. Nonprofit staff, volunteers, and board members involved in nonprofit management, fundraising, governance, board development, marketing and strategic visioning are encouraged to attend. Early registration is suggested, as seating is limited and the event has nearly sold-out in previous years.
