Community Foundation Now Accepting Scholarship Applications

December 14, 2007: The Community Foundation of Frederick County is pleased to announce that now through March 1, 2008, scholarship applications are available for the 2008-2009 academic year. By completing one Community Foundation Universal Scholarship Application applicants will be considered for more than 140 available scholarships. All guidelines and eligibility requirements are listed on the application.

Students about to complete their senior year of high school, students already enrolled in a trade school, college or university, and non-traditional students over the age of 21 are eligible to apply. Scholarships are for residents of Frederick County, Maryland, studying on a full-time basis, unless otherwise noted in a specific scholarship description. While some scholarships are based on financial need, others are not, and some scholarships require additional materials, such as a personal statement, essay or writing samples. Those applying for Community Foundation scholarships should refer to the requirements listed on the application. All students are encouraged to apply.

Completed Community Foundation Universal Scholarship Applications are due no later than 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 1, 2008, at the Community Foundation’s office. Applications with all necessary attachments received after the submission deadline will not be considered.

The Community Foundation of Frederick County is a recognized leader in providing scholarships to area students, made possible by generous donors who establish funds, or add to existing funds, at the Community Foundation. For the 2007-2008 academic year alone, the Community Foundation awarded more than $300,000 in scholarships to area students.
