1ST ANNUAL BRADY WEST
MEMORIAL WALK
TO BENEFIT NEW COMMUNITY FOUNDATION FUND
October 24, 2007: In his
brief four months on earth, Brady West touched the lives of those
around him. His easy-going nature, beautiful blue eyes, and infectious
giggle put a smile on the face of everyone who knew him. Born November
9, 2006, Brady was a happy little boy who left behind a lifetime of
love and memories when he passed away all too soon on March 23, 2007.
After his death, Brady’s parents, Thurmont’s Jaime Sweeney and Johnny
West, wanted to keep the joyful spirit of Brady’s memory alive and to
help others at the same time. The guidance and support they sought in
doing so led them to The Community Foundation of Frederick County
where they have established The Brady West Scholarship Fund. The Fund
will help graduates of Catoctin High School to pursue a post-secondary
education at a college or trade school of their choice.
“We want Brady to be remembered for the loving baby he was, and by
giving a scholarship each year in his name, we think that will be
accomplished,” said Jaime Sweeney and Johnny West.
To honor what would have been Brady’s first birthday, The 1st Annual
Brady West Memorial Walk will be held on Sunday, November 11, 2007, to
benefit the Fund. The Walk will start at the Thurmont Community Park,
beginning with registration at 1:00 p.m. A $10 registration fee will
be charged. Preregistration and additional information is available by
calling 301.447.3644.
“Our goal for this walk is to celebrate Brady’s birthday,” says Jaime,
“and to grow The Brady West Scholarship Fund so that another child can
accomplish their dreams. Brady will never be forgotten.”
Memorial scholarship funds are one of the many ways The Community
Foundation of Frederick County fills the needs of the community by
transforming the unique charitable dreams of individuals, families and
organizations into the reality of charitable funds supporting a range
of worthy causes. Over one-fourth of the funds held by the Community
Foundation honor the memories of deceased loved ones by continuing to
touch lives in meaningful ways in their names. To date, the Community
Foundation has provided more than $17 million in grants and
scholarships.
Contributions to The Brady West Scholarship Fund may be made payable
