Korean
War Veterans Chapter #142 Annual Golf Tournament
Raises Over $8,000 for Scholarship Fund
July 26, 2007: No matter
how far away the players were from par, June 21st was a successful day
of golf for participants hoping to raise money to support The Korean
War Veterans Chapter #142 Scholarship Fund held by The Community
Foundation of Frederick County.
The 6th Annual Golf Tournament was held at Glade Valley Golf Course in
Walkersville, where 80 golfers participated. The event’s success was
ensured by the support of numerous sponsors, including Shumaker
Roofing, this year’s Corporate Sponsor.
“Over $8,000 was raised during this year’s Golf Tournament,” says Bob
Mount, Treasurer of Chapter #142. “That’s nearly $2,000 more than last
year’s tournament.”
The Korean War Veterans Chapter #142 Scholarship Fund awards
scholarships to students who are direct bloodline descendants of those
who served in the United States military and who are eligible for
membership in the Korean War Veterans Association. To date, 10
scholarships have been awarded to deserving students.
Mr. Mount says that the Veterans are grateful for the help they have
received and are proud of what they have accomplished through the
Fund. “To see our fundraising increase from about $2,700 in the first
year to almost $9,000 this year is quite a testament to the patriotic
feelings of the business and professional community of Frederick
County.”
Proceeds from both the golf tournament and individual contributions
continue to help The Korean War Veterans Chapter #142 Scholarship Fund
grow, making future scholarships possible. Donations may be made
payable to The Community Foundation of Frederick County, 312 East
Church Street, Frederick, MD 21701. Insert the Fund’s name in the
check’s memo line. To donate electronically
