“How to Apply for Community
Foundation Scholarships”
to be held at C. Burr Artz Library
December 26, 2007: Applying for
educational scholarships through The Community Foundation of Frederick
County may seem like a daunting task, but it really isn’t with the
ease of using the Community Foundation Universal Scholarship
Application, available now through March 1.
So that students and their families can learn more about the
application process, two convenient, one-hour Saturday programs will
be offered in the Community Room of the C. Burr Artz Public Library,
110 E. Patrick Street on Saturday, January 26, 11 a.m. to 12 noon, and
Saturday, February 16, 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.
“These how-to sessions will provide useful information on completing
the Community Foundation Universal Scholarship Application, including
guidelines and scholarship-specific criteria,” says Community
Foundation President Elizabeth Y. Day. Ms. Day encourages anyone
interested in applying for a scholarship to attend one or both
programs.
Seating is limited and preregistration for either or both programs is
suggested by calling the Community Foundation at 301.695.7660 or by
e-mailing donor.services@cffredco.org.
Each year, from December 15 through March 1, The Community Foundation
of Frederick County accepts applications for the upcoming academic
year. Currently, applications are being accepted for the 2008-2009
academic year. By completing only one application, applicants will be
considered for more than 140 available scholarships. To download an

In addition to downloading the Community Foundation Universal
Scholarship Application, copies are available at the guidance office
of local high schools, and at the Community Foundation’s office at 312
East Church Street, Frederick, Maryland 21701.
Completed Community Foundation Universal Scholarship Applications must
be submitted no later than 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 1, 2008, at
the Community Foundation’s office. Applications with all necessary
attachments received after the submission deadline will not be
considered.
The Community Foundation of Frederick County is a recognized leader in
providing scholarships to area students, made possible by generous
donors who establish funds, or add to existing funds, at the Community
Foundation. For the 2007-2008 academic year alone, the Community
Foundation awarded more than $300,000 in scholarships to area
students. Additional information about the Community Foundation is
