First John and Ginny
Greene Music Scholarship Awarded to Frederick High Graduate
Frederick, Maryland;
June 29, 2007: Frederick High School graduate Elaine Davy was recently
awarded the first scholarship from The John and Ginny Greene Music
Scholarship Fund held by The Community Foundation of Frederick County.
Ms. Davy will attend Towson University in the fall to pursue a degree
in Music Education and Performance. She is a member of the Calvary
United Methodist Church Youth Group and sings in one of the Church’s
choirs every Sunday, including various solo performances at church
throughout the year. She is also a member of the Frederick Chamber
Singers, the National Honor Society, Maryland All State Choir,
Maryland All County Chorus, and All Eastern Chorus. In the future, Ms.
Davy hopes to perform in opera or musical theater productions, or to
teach music education.
Ms. Davy says she is extremely pleased to be the one chosen for the
first John and Ginny Greene Music Scholarship. “It will help me so
much as I worked toward a degree in Music Education and Performance.”
The John and Ginny Greene Scholarship Fund was created by Mr. and Mrs.
Greene so that others may benefit from their passion for music and
education by awarding scholarships to Frederick High School students
studying music or a related field.
“Music is such an integral part of our lives, and education is of the
utmost importance,” says Mrs. Greene. “What better way to give back to
the community than by helping others to pursue an education in music
through our Community Foundation fund. It is so rewarding to both John
and me.”
The Community Foundation is among the leading local resources for
scholarships, working with individuals, families, businesses, and
organizations to establish charitable funds that provide deserving
students with scholarships. To donate to The John and Ginny Greene
