Walkersville High School Graduate Awarded First Debbie Wolfe Bradley Scholarship

July 2, 2007: The Community Foundation’s Debbie Wolfe Bradley Scholarship Fund recently awarded its first scholarship to Casey Williams, a 2007 graduate of Walkersville High School.

At Walkersville High School, Casey served as President of the Drama Club and Vice President of the Thespian Society. She was also a member of the National Honor Society. Casey will attend Salisbury University in the fall, majoring in English, and has future career goals of teaching at a post-secondary institution.

When Debbie Wolfe Bradley died in a car accident in January, 2006, her family created The Debbie Wolfe Bradley Scholarship Fund at the Community Foundation to honor her memory, her love of theater arts, and her dedication to the Drama Club at Walkersville High School. Scholarships are awarded to Walkersville High School graduates pursuing a career in theater arts or a related field.

Debbie’s brother, Tad Wolfe, said he had the pleasure of meeting Casey and found her to be a bright, articulate person with a lot of enthusiasm. “I could not imagine a more deserving student to receive the first Debbie Wolfe Bradley Scholarship,” says Mr. Wolfe.

Casey said the scholarship means a great deal to her and the many students in the Walkersville High School Drama Department because Mrs. Bradley was one of the driving forces in its success.

“The Community Foundation’s Debbie Wolfe Bradley Scholarship will allow me to continue to honor her memory as I intend to be the best student I can be at Salisbury University,” says Casey.

By working with individuals, families, businesses, and organizations to establish charitable funds that provide deserving students with scholarships, The Community Foundation is among the leading local resources to help students reach their educational goals.
