Opportunity to Make a Difference
with 2009 Family Relief Fund
November 19, 2008: The Community Foundation of Frederick County is leading the way to help those experiencing the stresses of the economic downturn with the creation of The 2009 Family Relief Fund that will provide quarterly grants – beginning this January – to area nonprofits providing food, shelter, medical services, dental care, counseling, utility assistance, and job training to persons and families facing distress caused by the economic downturn.
“Area nonprofits have seen a dramatic rise in the number of people who use their services. Those with limited or no resources are struggling even more for the basics of everyday life,” says Elizabeth Y. Day, Community Foundation President. “The Community Foundation has created The 2009 Family Relief Fund to provide opportunities for our generous citizens to become involved and to make a meaningful difference in the lives of others. A donation to The 2009 Family Relief Fund will do just that – make a difference. This is truly a unique opportunity to alleviate human suffering.”
The 2009 Family Relief Fund will provide ongoing quarterly grants throughout next year, said Ms. Day, who encouraged citizens of Frederick County
