Ensures Baker Park Bandshell Renovation
May 8, 2008: Summertime is approaching
and soon live outdoor performances will be held at the Baker Park
Bandshell. This Frederick County landmark is the site of the City of
Frederick’s Summer Concert Series and SummerFest, a series of family
friendly entertainment providing storytelling and magic, dance, and
musical performances. Thousands flock to the Bandshell annually.
The importance of maintaining the Bandshell and expanding its services
to meet the ever-increasing needs of a growing population will not be
lost thanks to the members of The Rotary Club of Carroll Creek who
have led the charge to renovate the Bandshell.
The Rotary Club of Carroll Creek has partnered with Mayor Jeff
Holtzinger and City of Frederick staff, as well as Morgan Keller and
Waynesboro Construction to begin renovating the Bandshell with support
from The Rotary Club of Carroll Creek Fund at The Community Foundation
of Frederick County.
“The new and improved Bandshell will include enhanced lighting and
sound, and better and expanded dressing rooms, restrooms, and seating,
in addition to aesthetic improvements to the interior and exterior of
the Bandshell,” said David Weaver, Rotary Club of Carroll Creek
Bandshell Committee Chairman. “This project exemplifies what Rotary is
all about – pulling our resources together to improve the quality of
life for people in our community and throughout the world.”
Weaver said that Bandshell construction will not interfere with this
summer’s scheduled activities and entertainment. Construction is
scheduled to be completed in late 2008.
