Mayor Jim Hoover’s Emmitsburg
Scholarship Fund Established at Community Foundation – Applications
Available through March 1
February 6, 2008: Citizens of Emmitsburg
now have a new resource for scholarships as they pursue their
post-secondary education thanks to Mayor Jim Hoover and his wife Diana
who have established The Mayor Jim Hoover’s Emmitsburg Scholarship
Fund at The Community Foundation of Frederick County. Graduating high
school seniors, students who are home-schooled, and older returning
students residing in Emmitsburg will benefit from the fund.
Scholarships will be awarded for the upcoming 2008-2009 academic year.
“We wish everyone could afford to advance their career and education,”
said Mayor Hoover. “I know how expensive and difficult it is for kids
and their families,” he said, referring to the Hoover’s three children
who are attending college or trade school. “With the Community
Foundation’s experience and expertise in administering scholarships,
we will be able to help citizens in the Emmitsburg community.”
Students interested in applying for The Mayor Jim Hoover’s Emmitsburg
Scholarship may do so by filling out the Community Foundation’s
Universal Comprehensive Scholarship application, available at
www.cffredco.org. Applications are due at the Community Foundation’s
office at 312 East Church Street, Frederick, Maryland, 21701, by 5
p.m. on March 1, 2008. Additional information may be obtained by

success one scholarship at a time,” Mayor Hoover said.
