Fundraiser to Support Community
Foundation’s Muse Memorial Fund
April 16, 2008: A Dinner-Dance-Auction
to benefit The Community Foundation of Frederick County’s Dustin and
Courtney Muse Memorial Fund will be held on Saturday, June 21, 2008,
5:30 p.m. to midnight, at the Lynfield Event Complex.
The event begins with a silent auction at 5:30 p.m. Dinner, catered by
A Cut Above Catering, will be served at 7:00 p.m., and the live
auction will begin at 8:00 p.m. Attendees can enjoy music and dancing
from 9 p.m. to midnight with the sounds of renowned local band The
Cool Jerks. Dress for the evening is causal and the cost is $50.00 per
person. To register for the event, visit www.musememorial.com.
“The Dinner-Dance-Auction will be a special celebration of Dustin’s
and Courtney’s lives”, said Pam Meehan and Don Muse, Dustin and
Courtney’s parents. “It’s more than just a fundraising event, it’s a
way for family and friends, especially Dustin and Courtney’s peers, to
enjoy a very casual, laid-back night in their memory.”
Sixteen-year-old Dustin Muse was a well-known and highly-regarded
scholar-athlete at Governor Thomas Johnson High School when he and his
thirteen-year-old sister, Courtney, an enthusiastic member of the
Monacacy Middle School chorus and honor roll student, tragically died
in a car accident in December, 2006.
The Community Foundation’s Dustin and Courtney Muse Memorial Fund was
established by their parents with generous contributions from a
community who wanted to honor the legacy of these two exceptional
children. The Fund provides scholarships and grants in Dustin’s name
to Governor Thomas Johnson High School scholar-athletes, and
scholarships and grants in Courtney’s name which support the
performing arts.
In addition to the Dinner-Dance-Auction, The Dustin and Courtney Muse
Memorial Golf Tournament will be held Monday, June 23, 2008, at Musket
Ridge Golf Course. The Golf Tournament is currently sold out; however,
additional information on future events can be found at
www.musememorial.com.
Memorial funds are one of the many ways The Community Foundation of
Frederick County transforms the unique charitable dreams of
individuals, families and organizations into the reality of charitable
funds supporting a range of worthy causes. Over one-fourth of the
funds held by the Community Foundation honor the memories of deceased
loved ones by continuing to touch lives in meaningful ways in their
names. To date, the Community Foundation has provided more than $17
million in grants and scholarships throughout Frederick County.
Those who are unable to attend the Dinner-Dance-Auction, but who would
like to make a contribution to The Dustin and Courtney Muse Memorial
Fund, may make checks payable to The Community Foundation of Frederick
County, 312 East Church Street, Frederick, MD 21701, with the Fund’s
name inserted in the check’s memo line. To donate online,

extent of the law.
