Point of Rocks Ruritan Club Establishes Community Service Fund

January 22, 2008: Residents of Point of Rocks and Tuscarora, Maryland, are now ensured an even brighter future in these historic, small towns along the banks of the Potomac River thanks to The Point of Rocks Ruritan Community Service Fund recently established at The Community Foundation of Frederick County.

The Point of Rocks Ruritans are dedicated to making their community a better place through fellowship, goodwill and community service. Community beautification projects, Community Center renovations, and neighborhood and recreation activities are among the many ways the Ruritans fulfill its mission each day.

However, managing the funds that subsidize these activities can be a full-time job, says Ron Lichtinger, President of the Point of Rocks Ruritans. “That is why we sought out the Community Foundation’s expertise and guidance in creating The Point of Rocks Ruritan Community Service Fund.”

Mr. Lichtinger said that in addition to the Community Foundation’s reputation for sound fiscal management, which inspires donor confidence, the Community Foundation also offers wider exposure to residents of Frederick County and to those who care about the Point of Rocks community.

One of the current active projects in need of funding is the Bowis Drive Median Strip Beautification Project developed by the Ruritans’ Garden Club, which is part of the Club’s Environment Committee, Mr. Lichtinger noted. “The Point of Rocks Ruritan Community Service Fund will help this and future projects so that our community can thrive,” he said.

Those interested in helping to secure the future for the Point of Rocks Community may make a secure, online donation to The Point of Rocks Ruritan Community Service Fund.  To do so, click here. Civic projects and historic preservation initiatives are among the many needs identified by caring, generous donors who rely upon the credibility and expertise of The Community Foundation of Frederick County to fulfill their charitable dreams.
