February 17, 2009: The Community Foundation of Frederick County’s Frederick Mutual Insurance Company Donor-Advised Fund recently awarded $9,500 in grants to 15 nonprofit organizations throughout Frederick County.
As a donor-advised fund, founding donor Frederick Mutual Insurance Company recommends which charitable causes to support, subject to the approval of the Community Foundation’s Board of Trustees. Each year, grants are awarded to area nonprofits working in the fields of human services, education, and historic research.
Recent grants from The Frederick Mutual Insurance Company Donor-Advised Fund have been awarded to the following organizations: Advocates for Homeless Families; The Arc of Frederick County; The Community Foundation of Frederick County; Food Resources, Inc.; Frederick Rescue Mission; Habitat for Humanity of Frederick County; Hospice of Frederick County; The Jefferson School; Maryland Sheriffs’ Youth Ranch; Mental Health Association of Frederick County; National Museum of Civil War Medicine; Religious Coalition for Emergency Human Needs; The Salvation Army; United Way of Frederick County; and The Women’s Giving Circle of Frederick County.
“Frederick Mutual Insurance Company created the fund in honor of our 150th anniversary in 1994,” said Kevin Filler, President and CEO. “One of our corporate goals is to partner with trusted organizations to reach out to those in need in the community. The grants we award through our fund with the Community Foundation enable us to meet that goal and support our nonprofit organizations that work each day to help people in our community.”
The Community Foundation serves as a vehicle for positive and lasting change in Frederick County by building and fostering relationships with generous citizens who aspire to support the common good.
