Community Foundation Accepting
Agricultural Grant Applications

June 1, 2010: The Community Foundation of Frederick County has announced that grant applications are being accepted for The Friends of the Great Frederick Fair Fund.

Started in 2006, The Friends of the Great Frederick Fair Fund provides grants for agricultural education, the renovation, construction and maintenance of buildings used to promote agricultural activities by nonprofit organizations, and the promotion of agriculture as an industry and a way of life in Frederick County. Grants awarded from this fund may purchase capital items or support capital projects. To be eligible, applicants must certify they are a 501(c)(3) organization, a long standing community service or civic group that is not a 501(c)(3), or a religious organization proposing funding for non-sectarian activities benefiting youth activities.

“Frederick County has deep roots as an agricultural community,” said Elizabeth Y. Day, President of the Community Foundation. “Many donors have generously supported the Fund so that agricultural organizations continue to be an integral part of our way of life.”

This fund provides grants for continued development of activities, educational programs and capital improvements for agricultural-based organizations in Frederick County, Maryland. The grant application is available on a continuous basis, with applications accepted at any time during the year. Notification of the grant application status will be provided within 45 days of submission. All agricultural organizations, especially those that provide education and training in agriculture for youth, are encouraged to apply.

Grant applications may be downloaded from the Community Foundation’s website at www.cffredco.org. A completed, hardcopy application should be mailed to the Community Foundation, 312 East Church Street, Frederick, Maryland, 21701.
