Golf Tournament and Silent Auction to Benefit The Jeffrey Hayek Memorial Fund

April 9, 2010: Two events, a golf tournament and a silent auction, will raise funds for The Jeffrey Hayek Memorial Fund, a component fund of The Community Foundation of Frederick County. The events will take place on June 4, 2010, at the Worthington Manor Golf Club, located in the Urbana, Maryland area. Proceeds from the Fund will be used to build Jeffy’s Field, a “field of dreams” baseball field to benefit Frederick County youth.

The 18-hole golf event begins at 11:00 a.m. Each golfer receives a box lunch, sleeve of balls, a Jeffy’s Field logo polo shirt and buffet dinner. There will be contests and prizes on the course, and mulligans for sale. Hole sponsorships are also available. Worthington Manor Golf Club is a frequent U.S. Open qualifying site, with beautiful views on a bentgrass course.

The silent auction begins at 7:00 p.m. and includes appetizers, desserts, non-alcoholic beverages and one complimentary bar ticket. Auction items will include event tickets, bed and breakfast packages, memorabilia, kitchenware, restaurant meals and much more.

The Jeffrey Hayek Memorial Fund was established by Jeff’s parents, Robin and Brian Hayek, to honor the memory of their son who passed away from a clotting disorder in 2007 at the young age of 10. Known for his enthusiasm for “all things baseball,” Jeff’s memory will live on through the Fund by building Jeffrey’s baseball diamond and making other donations to benefit youth baseball in Frederick County.
