Community Foundation Awards Grants for 2010
Fiscal Year
April 7, 2010: During
its FY10 grant cycle, The Community Foundation of Frederick County
recently awarded more than $221,000 in grants to area nonprofit
organizations dedicated to improving lives and enhancing the Frederick
County community.
From civic, cultural, and community services, and health and human
service initiatives, to educational programs and youth projects, the
Community Foundation is a leading source for grant funding in
Frederick County.
Requests for grants come from a wide range of nonprofit organizations,
representing a variety of interests. Consideration for funding
includes capital purchases, new programs, one-time equipment
purchases, music programs, children with catastrophic circumstances,
health and wellness programs, scholarships for children attending
camps, and youth programs.
“Our discretionary grant making is one of the many ways we make a
positive impact in our community,” says Betsy Day, President of the
Community Foundation. “We take our grant making very seriously and
know that we are responsible to our donors to be good stewards of the
funds they have entrusted to us to award to area nonprofits.”
