Announces
The Frederick Arts Council Dance Scholarship Fund to Support Dance
Study
June 16, 2010: The
Community Foundation of Frederick County is pleased to announce the
formation of The Frederick Arts Council Dance Scholarship Fund to
benefit students pursuing a post-secondary education in dance or
education relating to the art form of dance.
The Fund will provide scholarships to Frederick County graduating
seniors, who may attend the post-secondary institution of their
choice. The scholarship may be applied to tuition, room and board,
books, dance materials and/or dance supplies. Applications for this
scholarship will be accepted starting in 2011.
“We have a rich heritage of dance in the Frederick community and it
continues to thread itself through the fabric of personal, social,
cultural and religious traditions” said Susie Miller, President of the
Frederick County Arts Council Board of Directors. “Dance reflects our
human desire to shape feelings, ideas, and images with an artistic
sensibility. This scholarship will assist dancers in continuing their
studies and sharing with future generations of dancers how dance
excites, invigorates and entices us. The Frederick Arts Council Board
of Directors is pleased to partner with the Community Foundation, the
Frederick dance community and businesses to establish this
scholarship.”
The Frederick Arts Council has fostered the growth of the arts,
artists, and arts organizations through grant and scholarship
programs, workshops, arts education forums and advocacy since 1976.
The Frederick Arts Council and Cultural Arts Center is located at 15
West Patrick Street in historic downtown Frederick. More information
is available at www.frederickartscouncil.org.
