Patriot Technologies Creates Charitable Fund

January 19, 2010: Patriot Technologies was created in 1996 by Bruce F. Tucker and Steven T. Keefe after their employer in Gaithersburg decided to relocate and move its employees out of the area. Both Tucker and Keefe were both raising their families in Frederick County at the time and had developed deep roots in their communities. Neither wanted to relocate, sharing the same reluctance as many of the other employees.

Tucker and Keefe then started Patriot Technologies in 1996, later moving the company to Frederick County in 1998 under the premise that they wanted to “live here, work here,” along with their employees. Now in its 13th year of providing comprehensive information technology security solutions, Patriot Technologies has 65 employees and occupies approximately 30,000 sq. ft. of space in the MIE Center at Monocacy in Frederick.

Patriot Technologies employees are active volunteers in the community and the company itself sponsors many charitable activities and youth sports teams. Its corporate values have embraced providing the highest level of services to its customers and offering as much support as possible to the community through its volunteerism and charitable contributions, especially to families and individuals in need.

It was a logical extension of these values when Patriot Technologies turned to The Community Foundation of Frederick County to create The Patriot Technologies Charitable Fund to award grants to nonprofit community organizations, with preference given to those serving the residents of Frederick County.

“Frederick County has been very good to our company and to our employees,” states Bruce Tucker, President and Founder. “By using the Community Foundation’s services, Patriot Technologies will continue its community support, but will also increase the impact that each grant will make.”

Steven Keefe, President of Security Appliance Manufacturing and Co-founder, added, “Patriot Technologies has thousands of customers world-wide, but we are always mindful that Frederick County has played a big part of our success. Our charitable giving through The Patriot Technologies Charitable Fund will be our way of expressing our gratitude for the opportunity to call Frederick County home.”
